Wortknall is a free word game for learning German, in the browser and as an app for Android. Playing it means agreeing to this. It is short because there is not more to say.
In short
- Wortknall is free, with no advertising and nothing to buy with real money.
- Be decent to the others and play yourself, with no helper tools.
- You can delete your account yourself at any time.
1The game
Wortknall costs nothing, shows no advertising and sells nothing for real money. Gems and everything in the shop are earned only by playing. Two people run it in their spare time, so it can go down, change or stop. No availability is promised.
2Your account
- A username belongs to exactly one account. Your display name you can change as often as you like.
- Do not pass yourself off as somebody else.
- What happens through your account is your responsibility.
- You can delete your account at any time: in the game under Profile → Delete account, or on the Delete account page.
3Each other
Real people sit in the chat and the voice channel, many of them beginners. No insults, no harassment, no hate, no advertising. Anyone who cannot manage that is removed. You can report players; we look at every report.
4Fair play
Ranked is only worth anything while it is honest. So:
- no scripts, no bots, no helper that finds words for you
- no arranged results and no pushing each other up the ladder
- no second account to play against yourself
The game notices some of this by itself and counts those results for less. Ratings may be corrected or reset, and accounts banned.
5The app
The Android app shows the same game as wortknall.com, with the same accounts and the same tables. It needs nothing but internet access. Updates come through Google Play.
6Music
The track behind the game is Lofi Chill by Nastelbom, from Pixabay, under the Pixabay Content License. No credit is asked for there; it is given here anyway.
7Words and meanings
The German word list comes from the free igerman98 dictionary, and the meanings from the Ding dictionary of TU Chemnitz. More meanings, word forms and the English and Indonesian translations come from the German, English and Indonesian Wiktionary (CC BY-SA 4.0, via kaikki.org), from WikDict and from Wikipedia (both CC BY-SA). Example sentences come from Tatoeba (CC BY 2.0 FR). Mistakes in what we made of them are ours.
8Pictures
The pictures in Bildraten are from OpenMoji, the open source emoji and icon project, under CC BY-SA 4.0.
9Sounds
The sound packs and fanfares in the shop are built from free recordings (CC0): real instruments from VSCO 2 CE and VCSL by Versilian Studios (Sam Gossner), effects by Kenney and, on OpenGameArt, by rubberduck and Juhani Junkala. The confetti in the round report is drawn by canvas-confetti by Kiril Vatev (ISC licence).
10Changes
If anything here changes, it says so here, with a new date. Carrying on playing means you accept it.
